Who we are

Católicas pelo Direito de Decidir - Brasil (Catholic Women For the Right to Decide - Brazil) is a non-governmental feminist organization of an inter-religious nature that seeks social justice and promotes changes in cultural and religious attitudes in Brazilian society, in favor of diversity as a necessary aspect of liberty and justice.

We defend women’s rights, especially their sexual and reproductive rights, and we struggle for gender equality and citizenship for women, in Brazilian society in general as well as within the Catholic Church and other churches and religions, in addition to disseminating progressive religious perspectives that favor women’s autonomy, recognizing their moral authority and ethical capacity to make decisions about their all aspects of their lives.

CDD's activities are carried out in collaboration with the Latin American Network of CDDs and with CFFC (Catholics for a Free Choice). In Brazil, we place particular emphasis on making alliances with organizations and individuals involved in the women's movement, as well as with universities, progressive sectors of the Catholic Church and other NGOs affiliated with social movements.
